It’s not surprising they call it “retail therapy”. Spending can feel great in the moment. Later, when you realize that thing that you wanted so badly is sitting unused, you might have second thoughts.
Really, we are trading our future financial security for our immediate wants.
The good news? If we can short-circuit those spending urges, that’s an easy way to save.
Enter mindful spending.
Mindful spending simply means we should try to think before we spend. And analyze the urge. Often when we do that, we forget about it.
As an extra layer of protection, you can make a deal with yourself: commit to a purchase waiting period. If you’re still convinced you want that pair of shoes in a week, you can go ahead and buy it.
